Teaching and Learning Program
The Teaching and Learning Program is designed to ensure that attainment of the knowledge, skills, strategies and best practices to develop courses designed to help learners succeed. Complete each of the three requisite self-paced and interactive courses to achieve a program certificate. Successful completion of the assessments in each course is required to achieve the certificate.
What Should I Know About the Program Before I Begin?
- Participants are not required to be online at specific times and can work through the materials at their own pace.
- You have twelve months from your date of registration to complete the program.
- In order to earn your course completion certificates, you need to score 100% on all course assessments. Don't worry: you have unlimited attempts to pass the assessments successfully.

AUDIENCE
This course has been designed to benefit and appeal to both beginners and experienced Brightspace users.
Beginners: This course will guide you through the basics of setting up your course content. This course will walk you through key workflows needed to set up, build, and manage your course. Once you have completed the course requirements, you will receive a completion certificate.
Experienced: This course will validate your knowledge of how to set up Brightspace courses with a completion certificate. It will also provide experienced users with up-to-date information that reflects key changes to Brightspace Learning Environment.
Developing Course Materials with Brightspace Agenda
MODULE 1: SETTING UP YOUR COURSE
This module covers the workflows often used to set up a course. You will create sections, widgets, and learn how to update course offering information.
MODULE 2: WORKING WITH EXISTING CONTENT
This module explores how to import existing materials into your course. In addition, this module showcases different content tools and workflows that are helpful when working with content you’ve already created!
MODULE 3: BUILDING NEW CONTENT
This module demonstrates how to build new content with Learning Environment. You will build new content with the HTML editor, create and apply release conditions, and learn strategies to make your course accessible.
MODULE 4: ONGOING CONTENT MANAGEMENT
This module gives you strategies to keep your course materials updated. You will edit content, interpret content statistics, and set up completion tracking.
MODULE 5: PERSONALIZING CONTENT
This module is focused on creating content that connects with all your learners. You will learn how to create learning paths with release conditions, use awards to increase learner motivation, and work the groups tool to encourage collaboration.
Building Assessments and Grading Learners with Brightspace Agenda
MODULE 1: SETTING UP YOUR GRADEBOOK
This module covers the workflows used at the beginning of a course to set up your grade book. This module shares tips on how to make decisions related to grade book settings.
MODULE 2: BUILDING ASSESSMENTS
This module includes workflows for all assessment tools. You will build assessments questions, create an assignment folder and rubric, and build a quiz. You will also learn about use cases for surveys and self-assessments.
MODULE 3: GRADING ASSESSMENTS
This module provides you with different workflows for grading assessment items. You will also learn how to interpret assessment tool statistics and make adjustments to your assessment activities.
MODULE 4: PERSONALIZING ASSESSMENTS
This module is focused on creating assessments that connect with all your learners. You will learn how to create learning paths with release conditions, use awards to increase learner motivation, and set up special access to quizzes and assignments.
Communication and Engagement with Brightspace Agenda
MODULE 1: COURSE-WIDE COMMUNICATION
This module covers the workflows used throughout a course to communicate with all your learners at once. This module shares tips on how build engaging announcements, set up calendar events, and use both the FAQ and Glossary tools to support your learners.
MODULE 2: COLLABORATION AND ENGAGEMENT
This module includes workflows for using discussions and groups. You will also learn strategies to increase engagement using replace strings, release conditions, and awards.
MODULE 3: COMMUNICATING FOR LEARNER SUCCESS
This module includes workflows using intelligent agents and groups to help your learners stay on track. You will build intelligent agents with release conditions, and build groups that support a variety of learner needs. You will also learn about User Progress tool and how it can help you guide your learners to success.
